Use Historic Colors in Your Home

Want to be one step closer dream vintage home right now? Historic colors are a great place to start…

Get out the paintbrushes!

Adding a pop of color to a room is a relatively inexpensive way to breathe life into a dull space. Science says that colors can have a huge impact on your mood. If you’re looking to make a change to your home, or even just one specific room, but aren’t sure where to begin–switching up your home’s color palette using historic colors can be a really simple, cost-effective way to make a big difference.

Picking a color is the hardest part! Once you’ve made your vision board, you can scan the images you’ve gathered for any tones that pop up more than once, or any that jump out to you. Start with classic, historic colors that will suit your home’s vintage charm. Historic colors tend to be neutral or warm tones, and they complement every type of space. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, try to imagine how you would like to feel in your dream home, then create your color palette with these feelings in mind.

You could also revamp the mood of a room without painting by simply switching up the accent colors.  Adding some new throw pillows–in an exciting color or fun print (or DIY-ing some covers for the ones you already have!)–is a really simple way to freshen up a living area.

Rich brown and red tones permeate throughout historic homes. Embrace the warmth and charm of older times by incorporating these colors into your own home!
