The Victorian House of Arts & Crafts
The Victorian House of Arts
The roots of Socialism are far different than you can imagine. It all started when John Ruskin and William Morris started an anti-industrial age movement and began celebrating handmade and fine craftsmanship with a main goal. To bring joy to work and to make beauty accessible to all, not just the wealthy class.
This four-part series takes 6 modern day craftspeople and embeds them into a Victorian manor house where they proceed to decorate it not only in the style of the time, but by making everything, from wallpaper, andirons, embroidery to copper work – by hand. Better yet, they dress, eat and live as if it were the turn of the 19th century.
