I’m Ben, one of the founders. We started Revival Rugs because we felt that a one-of-a-kind rug shouldn’t cost a month’s rent.
Last year my wife Amber and I were outfitting our apartment with a new rug. We had just moved and our wooden floors were bare. We thought finding a new rug would be a fun process, but it quickly turned into a stressful buying experience.
Everywhere we looked for a rug — whether in person or online — there was a general lack of transparency, unreasonable prices, and poor-quality machine-made replicas. We didn’t have the money to spend thousands on the handmade rugs we loved, but we also didn’t want to settle for something inferior.
Amber and I passed through Istanbul on our honeymoon and we reconnected with our friends. Kurt was designing the interiors of apartments in Istanbul. Joyce, who has a keen eye for design, helped him select the perfect rugs for each unit.
Our Story – Turkey
Frustrated with the rugs they found on the market, they traveled to remote cities in Turkey and built a network of artisans to supply beautiful, one-of-a-kind vintage rugs. During our trip, Kurt asked if we wanted to partner with them to supply US businesses with rugs.
Kurt’s proposal set off a firestorm in my head. While we could effectively work as wholesalers, I thought we would have a greater impact by selling directly to you, the consumer.
Revival Rugs was born. We believe that buying one-of-a-kind, vintage handmade rugs should be smooth, transparent, and affordable. We handpick a carefully curated selection of rugs and bring them to your door, minus the mark-up.
